Casablanca, much like the world’s major metropolises, has undertaken a dynamic process of governance and strategy to better confront the new challenges of the century. It is in this context that the city has been hosting strategic and academic discussions since 2016, exemplified notably by the organization of the Smart City Africa Casablanca event.

After several successful editions, addressing various themes that aptly mirror the concerns of the city and its stakeholders, spanning from inclusion and citizen innovation to Artificial Intelligence, it is fitting that this 5th edition focuses on a vital issue that serves as a link between all these principles: Smart Governance.

Indeed, as outlined by the United Nations in its 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, governance is a comprehensive concept that aligns with various Sustainable Development Goals. Smart Governance serves as a means to unite all stakeholders around economic and, above all, social objectives.

With this in mind, and as a logical continuation of previous editions, the chosen theme for 2020 is « Smart Governance for Inclusive Cities. »
